      <image:title>Home - Hi, I’m Stephen</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a trained clinical therapist (MA, LPCC) in the State of Colorado. I am passionate about the experience of being human, and the transformative healing power of the therapy relationship. I offer individual therapy for adults located in Colorado looking to heal, become unstuck, and transform their relationship with themselves and their lives. As a therapist, I offer safety, compassion, and acceptance from the start. My goal is to support you in your journey towards wholeness, self-compassion, and living a life that is meaningful to you. Together we can find ways to improve your ability to manage your thoughts, emotions, and circumstances, and come into contact with your deep reserves of inner strength, vitality, compassion, and courage. <image:caption>I am an experienced clinician who utilizes an eclectic approach to working with depression. My work is informed by mindfulness traditions and practices, relational neurobiology, narrative therapy and other forms of meaning-making, parts-of-self work, and is humanistic and person-centered at its core. Ultimately, as a fellow human being who has experienced his own battles with depression, I believe the best way to help my clients is to show up fully as myself in the therapist chair, ready to listen, empathize, and encourage the emergence of your own wisdom and resilience. The ultimate value of therapy is the human connection. If you’re struggling with depression, and would like to explore ways to heal and reclaim your life, I encourage you to reach out! Let’s talk.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Stephen - Hi, I’m Stephen Schlatter</image:title>
<image:caption>Like many counselors and therapists, I found my calling as a therapist as a result of my own life story—including my own mental health struggles, traumas, and “stuck” parts, as well as successful outcomes in my own therapy. I have experienced firsthand therapy’s potential to help someone move from cycles of anxiety, depression, self-loathing, doubt, addictions, trauma, and despair to a place of openness, vulnerability, courage, and deeper connection to self, others, and the collective universe we share. And, as a result of my own life experience, I know that healing is not linear; that everyone’s journey is unique; and that the more we can invite reserves of compassion, acceptance, even humor to our own predicaments, while enlisting the support of a compassionate helper, the better we are able to heal and grow into the best version of ourselves. There is no set time-frame or path for anyone’s unique healing. There is no one’s journey that is quite like yours. I’m here to explore with you what your life’s path towards healing might look like.</image:caption>

<image:title>PTSD Treatment and Trauma Therapy - Trauma is widespread and unique to each person’s experience. Generally speaking, trauma occurs when someone lives through an intense, potentially life-threatening event—for example, a car crash, rape or other acts of violence, natural disaster, serious illness. Trauma can also occur from the death of a loved one, or witnessing a traumatic event second-hand.</image:title>
<image:caption>Further, a type of trauma called complex trauma can occur from the accumulation of smaller incidents that accrue over time. This frequently occurs in a relational dynamic, such as in someone’s family, romantic relationships, or wider social circles—for example, emotional abuse, neglect, and persistent bullying—as well as from financial insecurity and the inability to have one’s basic needs met (food, sleep, shelter, social acceptance).</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am an experienced clinician who utilizes an eclectic approach to working with mental and emotional health challenges. My work is informed by mindfulness traditions and practices, relational neurobiology, narrative therapy, and other forms of meaning-making. My work is humanistic and person-centered at its core. This means that all parts of your inner and outer self are welcome. Together we can draw from your strengths and values as we find ways to integrate these into a healthier relationship with your self and your experience. I know the value of meeting my clients with warmth and acceptance. From the beginning, I will be ready to listen, empathize, and encourage the emergence of your own wisdom and resilience. My role is never to judge, blame, or collude with the forces in your life that have caused you to struggle or feel shame. Therapy is a fundamentally relational process, which means that at its core, healing emerges from connecting with another human being. I am here to accept you just as you are, while fostering the emergence of your inner sources of strength, clarity, and healing. If you’re struggling, and would like to explore ways to grow into a version of your self and your life that is more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling, I encourage you to reach out! <image:title>About Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>A lot of people are experiencing anxiety, depression, and general discomfort that they experience as a personal problem—unmoored and disconnected from others, a private shame, a hidden struggle. I want you to know you’re not alone in feeling grief, angst, fear, despair. We can find connection and solace in the fact that we’re actually not alone in our suffering; we’re intimately connected through the suffering in our external world. If you’re feeling grief and anxiety about the state of the world, and wondering where to start, where you can bring about healing and change, the answer might lie in coming into deeper, more authentic relationship with your own self and others around you. I believe the road to collective transformation requires a revolution of the self, which emanates outward through how we show up in our lives. We’re truly in this together. Many people would like to find support with the following: Anxiety Depression PTSD and Trauma Grief and Life Transitions Being a Human There are many other Reasons to Choose Therapy, so please reach out and ask if you think I would be a good fit for you!</image:caption>
